Custom Engraved Horns - Full GuideUpdated a month ago

Overview

Our engraving machine at Norse Tradesman specializes in creating beautiful and detailed engravings on our products. However, it’s important to understand the our engraving process, minimum order requirements and limitations and requirements of our machine.

Custom Image Engravings

  • We offer custom image engravings exclusively for orders of over 12 units.
  • For smaller orders, customers can select from any of our preselected images and add custom text on either of our Personalized Horn Tankards or Personalized Curved Drinking Horns page.
  • To engrave a custom image, please submit a custom order request here.

Image Requirements for Engraving

  1. File Type:

    • We accept image files in the following formats: PNG, PDF
    • The image should have a transparent background to ensure clean and precise engraving. If you don't know how to create an image with a transparent background, send us your image and we may be able to help convert it.
  2. Image Quality:

    • Images should be clear and not pixelated. Low-resolution images can result in blurred or incomplete engravings.
  3. Design Simplicity:

    • Simple, bold designs work best. Avoid intricate details that are too small, as these may not be clearly visible once engraved.
  4. Colors
    • The engraving process is binary, meaning it either engraves or does not engrave. Color gradients in an image will not translate well. Our engraving machine does not add any color to the design. Multiple colors will not be reflected in the final engraving. Lasered horn results in a burnt-orange color. This is the color that your engraving will be.
  5. Size and Proportion:

    • Flat Plane Limitation: Our engraving machine engraves on a flat plane, which means it cannot wrap around the horn. The engraving area is approximately 2.5 inches wide, depending on the width of each horn.
    • Image Dimensions: Images that are wider than they are tall will appear smaller due to the flat plane limitation. Taller images are no issue as the machine can move vertically to accommodate the design.
  6. Example of Suitable Images:

    • Refer to examples on our Custom Tankards

How to Submit Your Image

  • When submitting your image for engraving, please ensure it meets the above criteria.
  • If your design does not meet these requirements, we recommend consulting with a graphic designer to modify the image appropriately.

What Happens if Your Image is Unsuitable?

  • If your image is deemed unsuitable for engraving, we will notify you and provide suggestions for modifications. We may also offer alternative design options from our library of engravings.
